Meeting people where they are
At Greater Hope, we have developed a three stage program to help individuals get back on their feet and return to society. We do this by meeting each person wherever their individual circumstances find them and then building a support program around them to give them the tools, confidence, and momentum to become a productive member of the community.
Current Project
Transitional Housing Unit & Tiny Home Village
Our original plan was to build the Transitional Housing Unit on a small 1-acre plot we had acquired across the street from our current shelter. The Fernwood Foundation recently was able to make a land grant of a 35-acre parcel just 4 miles away that provides us the space for this project and more in the future. So far, we have broken ground on the Transitional Housing Unit and also started a Tiny Home Village that will provide couples and small families with affordable housing options if they find themselves struggling on the edge of homelessness.
Ms. Sarah’s Vision
Ms. Sarah Conerly has been serving the homeless community in McComb, Mississippi, for decades, and she founded the Greater Hope Homeless Shelter in 2019 to address the needs of the large number of homeless men in the area who were often found living beneath the overpasses on the highway.
